Volunteer Spotlight: Big Day in the UK!

Volunteer Spotlight: Big Day in the UK!

June 21st was a busy day for Cloudera Cares in the UK. Not only did we host the Evolve London Flagship event with a first of its kind, volunteer component, we also flew the Cloudera flag at a Cloudera Cares event with Mission Motorsport. Hear from this month’s volunteer spotlight, Paul Wooding about his day volunteering at two of Cloudera’s impactful UK-based events.

It was a busy day for Cloudera Cares in the UK on June 21, 2023. Not only did we deliver the EMEA Evolve Flagship event with a first of its kind, volunteer component, we also flew the  Cloudera flag at a Cloudera Cares event with Mission Motorsport. Hear from Clouderan, Paul Wooding about his day volunteering at two of Cloudera’s impactful UK-based events.

At London Evolve, we partnered with School in a Bag to assemble backpacks filled with school supplies for kids impacted by the war in Ukraine. When planning for Evolve, the Event and Cloudera Cares teams wanted to choose an organization and a mission that would resonate with our customers, attendees and Clouderans and they chose well.  School in a Bag provides learning materials to children, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity and social class. Learning is then made equally accessible where it once wasn’t. Together with our clients and Evolve attendees, Clouderans packed 80 school bags.

Later on that day, I made my way to Goodwood Motor Circuit for The annual Meyrick Cox Memorial Event in memory of the previous MissionMotorsport Chairman.

MissionMotorsport’s objective is to support veterans and their families in their resettlement to civilian life.  The Meyrick Cox Memorial event specifically thanks MM’s supporters for their hard work and dedication to this cause.

To recognize Cloudera’s sponsorship of Race of Remembrance last year and my personal support of a veteran in his effort to establish a car wrapping business, we were invited to join the event and able to provide some iconic brand images.

A Union Flag-wrapped Caterham, designed by a Veteran, racing around Goodwood, alongside a Cloudera-branded race car, carrying veteran beneficiaries highlights the ongoing commitment of the Cloudera Cares programme and reinforces a company culture that supports its employees to do more than their day job.

Making memories, connections and feel-good moments for individuals who have given everything for the liberty of others, is a small way to show our appreciation.

Thank you Cloudera and thank you to veterans wherever you are.
