How Harnessing Your Data in Motion Can Drive Mission Success

With Cloudera’s help, the institution was able to automate key metrics and utilize predictive analytics to track student performance, identify who may be falling behind, and scale resources according to projected demand—such as online access during finals 

Cloudera’s solution not only addressed the main issues but also provided additional unexpected benefits, such as identifying students potentially cheating. With new tools for making sense of trends, departments across the university could make better-informed decisions, such as adjusting testing time according to demand—evolving the institution’s existing system into a more effective one without losing data or creating system instability.  

Stable, reliable systems supporting a wide range of implementations were central to digital transformation at Navistar, where decision-makers wanted to eliminate unplanned maintenance on their trucks, school buses, and freight haulers. 

With Cloudera Enterprise’s SDX, Navistar was able to build an IoT-powered, remote diagnostics platform that alerts drivers to potential maintenance issues with their trucks and freight haulers. Now, smartphones and tablets are used by fleet and vehicle owners to monitor truck health. Through this diagnostics platform, Navistar was able to identify parts needed to fix an issue and find a local service location with technicians that could provide the part and resolve the problem.

Helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky (a Lockheed Martin Company), wanted to accurately predict and resolve potential aircraft problems before they caused emergency flight landings or safety issues. This allows entire fleets to analyze large data sets—and frees up Sikorsky personnel to focus their attention on the aviation problems requiring human attention.
