Clouderans in Budapest help give local school a facelift

Clouderans in Budapest kicked off their feel-good summer with a do-good day at Kozmutza Flóra EGYMI school.

About 20 Clouderans rolled up their sleeves for a day of cleanup and beautification on the school grounds as part of Give & Gain Day, a day of community and unity as businesses all over the country encouraged employees to volunteer to highlight the importance of helping others.

In total, over 100 volunteers from local companies worked on a full slate of wishlist projects at Kozmutza Flóra to help improve the learning environment for these special students. The corporate volunteers became an army of painters, applying their brushes to fences, raised garden beds and shades, exterior walls, fences, bike storage, football goals, basketball backboards, and hopscotch-like games on the sidewalks. They also helped build new benches and walk paths for barefoot strolls.

After all, years of research have shown that learning environments play a significant role in student success.

Cloudera employees enjoyed the opportunity to work side-by-side with colleagues and people from other companies. But the project really hit home when they saw students’ faces light up upon seeing their beautified campus. Said one volunteer:

“The best part was when the kids come and visit us during the day. They were so happy about the new games and the colorful environment!”
