Global Week of Service 2022: 430+ Clouderans Engage for Good!

Cloudera’s Global Week of Service - a week each year the business dedicates to doing good. Learn about the impact our employees made throughout the week, including the first ever, Unplug with Kindness campaign.

Cloudera’s Global Week of Service, which occurred from October 10 through 14, is a week each year that the business dedicates to doing good. This year’s theme was Clouderans: Engage for Good. Clouderans were encouraged to take time, give back, and participate in various meaningful ways.

Clouderans globally did just that. Together we exceeded goals, increased impact, and spread kindness. Here is how:

  • 430+ Clouderans engaged
  • 770+ hours volunteered, and counting!
  • 36+ events held virtually and in 20+ cities across the globe
  • $40,000+ donated
  • 150+ organizations supported

Some events included:

  • Sorting non-perishable food items in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
  • Teaching science through fun audio stories virtually for young girls in Ghana.
  • Reducing one’s carbon footprint using old t-shirts, a virtual event.
  • Packing hygiene kits for homeless veterans in Santa Clara, California.
  • Providing art supplies for SOS Children’s Village in Bangalore, India.
  • Gardening with the Cork Migrant Center in Cork, Ireland.
  • Equipping young women with skills needed to enter STEM careers virtually.
  • An open-source awareness program in Chennai, India.

…and many, many more!

“Thanks, Cloudera, for giving me the opportunity to engage. I am so busy with work lately, and this event has helped me take time to change my focus for a moment in time. Afterward, not only did I have the satisfaction of having done service to the community but it also refocused me when I returned to work. It felt great to be a global citizen.”

The diversity of activities represents the wide range of interests and causes Clouderans care about. We are proud of the impact we were able to make this year and are looking forward to seeing growth in 2023.

To close out Global Week of Service, we challenged Clouderans to use their Unplug Day to commit an act of kindness. While acts of kindness may take just one minute to complete, we know they can have a lasting impact on the recipients and our broader community. Throughout the week, over 70 Clouderans committed to Unplug With Kindness.
