Cloudera named a Strong Performer in The Forrester Wave™: Streaming Analytics, Q3 2019

Cloudera has been named as a Strong Performer in the Forrester Wave for Streaming Analytics, Q3 2019. We are totally excited to make our debut in this wave at, what we consider to be, such a strong position. We are proud to have been named as one of “The 11 providers that matter most” in streaming analytics. The report states that analytics prowess, scalability and deployment freedom are key differentiators in the evaluation across 26-criterion.

Cloudera DataFlow (CDF) is a comprehensive real-time streaming data platform that enables enterprises to address key streaming use cases across a wide range of streaming sources. In this report, Forrester states – “Streaming analytics is not about moving bits. It is about analyzing bits as they move. Streaming analytics is categorically about analytics: specifically, analytics on data in motion, where time and trends are not defined in the past but instead defined right now”. We couldn’t have said it better!

CDF has pioneered as a data-in-motion platform since its inception at Hortonworks several years ago. Today, it offers the breadth of products for managing data-in-motion from the edge to the cloud (or the enterprise). CDF streamlines the process of collecting, curating and analyzing real-time streaming data with its integrated set of products. The Forrester Wave report, in our opinion, rightly recognizes Cloudera DataFlow as “more than streaming analytics”. The report states that Cloudera offers “strengths in streaming data platforms, management, security, development, extensibility and deployment”.

Hundreds of customers across multiple industry verticals are leveraging Cloudera DataFlow today for various streaming use cases like Clickstreams, log ingestion/analysis, social stream analysis etc. There are dozens of customers that use CDF for IoT use cases like Predictive Maintenance, Asset Tracking/Monitoring, Fleet Management, Smart Cities and many more. The Forrester Wave refers to a few of our customers like Clearsense who uses CDF for patient monitoring from biometric devices and extends that into Machine Learning (ML) models to do predictive diagnosis and life-saving alerting. We are ever thankful to our customers in that we have been rated with high scores on customer support in this report.

The merger with Hortonworks has proved to be one of the best business decisions for Cloudera. The vision for Edge2AI has attained fruition with the streaming platform from Hortonworks seamlessly working with the Machine Learning platform from Cloudera. CDF can take up ML models built using the Cloudera Data Science Workbench (CDSW) and deploy them to edge devices. CDF can support local edge processing, do local data scoring using those models and enable edge intelligence in such remote devices. This goes back to the point made in the report about streaming analytics – analytics on data-in-motion is defined right now.

There is more work to be done. We are constantly innovating every day with our offerings. We believe we are currently ranked on the cusp of being named a leader. With a couple more exciting announcements due in the coming few months, we think we will be poised for an even stronger presence in the market.
